So after reading some of the post about NO and supplements that some of you guys take I thought I'd try a couple new ones (to me) that may help my workout/recovery and weight loss effort.

Citrulline Malate 2:1 (3g) - Pre-workout.
L-Arginine (1000mg) - I'm thinking I'll take one in the AM and PM
L-Carnitine (500mg) - I'm thinking I'll take one in the AM and PM

Do these doses look alright or should I consider increasing them?

Other daily supplements I take at the advice of Defy are; DHEA 25mg, D3 5000UI, CoQ10 200mg

Thanks,
Steve

I would increase the citrulline malate 2:1 to 6 grams pre-workout that way you will be getting 4 grams of citrulline as the effective dose of pure citrulline is 3-6 grams daily. I buy 1kg bag 2:1 from Bulk Supplements as I used to get from Powder City but they went out of business. L-Arginine you can take if you want 1g 2x daily but I would just use the citrulline. L-Carnitine is a great supplement around 1g pre/post workout and 2x daily off days as it has many benefits. L-Carnitine L-Tartrate was the form used in a lot of studies!

Thanks for the good information Madman. I'll adjust the dosage. I'm curious to see how this works out.

What Madman said.
I kind of assemble/make my own pre-workout and you definitely need 6g of citrulline malate (seems to be the magic number lol).

Thanks Sean. I made the Citrulline 6g change this morning before hitting the gym. Maybe a placebo effect but I pushed out more reps this morning. I'm feeling pretty good about it!

Arginine is a poor NO contributor though I do use it @ 2-4g servings, with Citrulline. I don't use CMalate as the Malate tastes terrible, same ~6G dose. Third, I like Ornithine in 1-2g dose.

Carnitine is a new one for me as your calling it an NO contributor, I wasn't aware of that.

So...6g Citrulline
2-4g AAKG
1-2g Ornithine

Add Beta Alanine and 100mg of Caffeine and this is a very effective Pre-Workout. I use it 4 days per week, and is myu sexual NO formula (minus the BA/Caff)

I only mention Carnitine due to this reference: https://examine.com/supplements/l-carnitine/#ref1

"Carnitine supplementation, as either Acetyl-L-Carnitine or GPLC, has been shown to increase Nitric Oxide levels[SUP][47][/SUP] or plasma nitrate/nitrite[SUP][192][/SUP][SUP][48][/SUP] at 1-3g daily independent of exercise, which could possibly be connected to the previously mentioned increased oxygenation of muscle tissue."

One other question.

If I'm taking 6g of Citrulline Malate 2:1, how long does this stay in my system? I'm taking this within an hour of hitting the gym.

I've looked online and didn't find an answer.
