I can offer two suggestions. You can contact our site sponsors, Defy Medical and Prime Body. It is true, they are fee for service providers, but their professional fees may not be as high as you fear. It's certainly worth contacting them and asking hard, direct questions about cost. They will answer you. Your second option, living in Boston, is to contact http://www.menshealthboston.com. Dr. Morgentaler is one of the leading physicians in the field of men's health. His office is, I believe, in Chestnut Hill.

Thanks for info. Have to get my primary to allow me to go out of network for men's health Boston. Was told had to try doctor in network first which I have but not pleased with. Put call in today

I use Dr. Morgantaler at Men's Health Boston. I think they are great there. They take insurance, do their own bloodwork and refill the rx on line. He is one of the pioneers in this field. Very positive experience for me.

I'd start there.

Mountain Man, Did you need to get a referral from your PCP?

I did, but that depends on your insurance. My T was in the low range on my yearly physical and my pcp said it was fine. I insisted he give me a referral and he did. Call your customer service on your insurance and ask if you need a referral to see a specialist. If you need to see your pcp, then do so. I argued with my pcp at that time, complaining of BPH and ED, and argued that these were another reason to go to Men's Health Boston. He gave me the referral.

Good luck!

It depends how desperate you are to get first class treatment. The thing with MHB is that they will prescribe you test. and PDE5's and that's it, no HCG. If you are an easy case and that works for you then great, you've hit a home run. If not you've just wasted another, IDK, 3,6,12 months, and then you are back to square one. I wasted 4 years getting substandard care from Boston area doctors before switching to Defy.

Be warned however, he's conservative in his approaches with TRT and good luck getting HCG, etc with him. Boston is terrible for TRT/HRT docs.

Still, not my experience and I am a current client. The clinic is not only Morgantaler, but at least 3 other prescribers. They will do HCG, not without reason. I have a family member that gets HCG there. I don't think it's as bad as some are arguing, and if you can use your insurance, why not? Total cost to me is less than it would cost for a month of those phony testosterone boosters that are out there.

I'm curious as to how many any who are bashing treatment in the Boston area have gotten substandard care from Men's Health Boston in the past year? Obviously there is going to be a lot who suggest the sponsors of this site. What I'm saying is if you can see a doctor face to face, use your insurance, and save a few hundred dollars a month, why not?

Keep us posted on whatever you do. Always good for all of us to have choices.

I'm from Boston and know the Boston TRT scene well. The men i knew who went to him were told he didn't use HCG or an AI and levels of T were kept lower than they wanted. If he's changed his mind on that great. If he's added additional practioners that are more flexible, great.

What is the dose he gives you and recommended dose schedule? What are your T/FT/E2 numbers?

I'm on 100 test cyp weekly. The e2 I'm not sure of. They do not use the sensative assay, but I am near the upper level on the Quest scale. Morgantaler told me it was not a problem, as I am not symptomatic in any way. The range for their free test tops off at 15, and I was at 16. Total test has had a low of 806 and one of his PAs told me I can up the 100 cyp a bit as I want, so I usually go up to 120 per week. My total has been as high as 1100.

Not sure how they treat others, but my sense is that they are sensitive to me because of my age, 63, and the results I've gotten, almost as if they find my case interesting because they ask about my habits and lifestyle and seem to be impressed.

I wish I could get the sensative e2, but no symptoms so I don't push it. As I said, I've been with them for 14 months and would be hard pressed to find anything to complain about. I usually get what I need from doctors, as I do my homework, know what I'm talking about and know how to advocate for myself. I also think that TRT prescribers and doctors in general give a halo effect to an older guy who stays in shape.

Consider yourself very lucky that a very simple protocol like what your on has worked for you. When a protocol like that didn't work for me I was told,
1. The sensitive E2 test isn't necessary, we don't do that.
2. If your E2 is high the solution is to lower your testosterone dose, we don't use AI's.
3. HCG isn't necessary with testosterone, we only offer HCG monotherapy.
4. Here have some Cialis samples.
5. Don't let the door hit you on the way out (I'm a troublemaker patient).

Did you see a doctor at Men's Health Boston? That is exactly what I was told about the sensative e2 test. I've asked the "what if e2 is high " question and was told if it gets high, then they would prescribe arimidex, but only if I was symptomatic.

So far, I've had only very positive results, and I hope it lasts. Curious if you had good results that changed or if you had poor results right away? I was told that, for whatever reason, I am a easy responder, implying my results on this protocol are atypical.

As far as the don't let the door hit you on the way out, which is an ******* way of doing business, my spiel is that "I've been working out regularly since 1967 and I know my body. I take excellent care of myself and yeah, I'm in my 60s, but I shouldn't feel this way. I know what I'm taliking about because I researched this. Shouldn't everybody? I want some help with this, and if you can't help me, then please refer me to someone who can." So far, people have been helpful. If that changes, then I'll consider the telemedicine MDs that advertise here.

Thanks HarryCat
