Issues With Sit-Ups: Could it Be a Hiatal Hernia?

Any others have a bulge in the upper bas when doing set ups. When do you know it is a problem?

I've never had one but I do know a few men that had one. They all eventually had them fix. I was told the surgery was pretty simple.

I had the surgery in Feb, a Nissen Fundoplication. Hasn't been too bad of a recovery but have been unable to lift weights.

How long before you can start weights again? Can you do yoga or other aerobic workouts?

I do cardio a few times a week, apparently I am allowed to lift now (after 3 month mark) but I don't feel ready for it yet

I wouldn't think you could see a hiatal hernia externally?? If you see a bulge during sit-ups it is likely what is called diastasis recti. This is a separation of the abs down the centre-line. There is some info at the link below.

6.5 years later, how are you doing?
- I am in the process of scheduling this procedure, scary stuff.
