I know this topic is like beating a dead horse... but I’ve been on T for several years. My doc recently switched compounding pharmacies and my hair loss from my weekly injections has been severely increased. I am NOT predisposed to Male Pattern Baldness. My hair is already very thin since I started.(had super thick hair prior to). I am currently on Finasteride and have recently convinced my doc to give me a script for dutasteride to use in conjunction with Finasteride.
Every time I gently run my fingers through my hair I get several hairs that fall out. I get that I’m getting older but this is happening much faster than it should be. I’m 43. Injecting between 1-1.2ml weekly. No anastrazole, 1mg if Finasteride daily (which has done NOTHING, hence my request for Dutasteride).

most people are like “who cares about the hair” but at the rat mine is falling out it’s alarming. If I was predisposed to MPB I’d just accept it. But I’m not, so what gives? I have listen to thousands of podcast on TRT and nothing has specifically addressed my issues. Any insight?

I would not be so confident that you are not predisposed as you did state that your hair was super thick prior to trt and had thinned out while on trt.

Androgens will speedup the process of hair loss in the genetically prone.

Although you just starting experiencing more severe shedding since your doctor switched compounding pharmacies has your protocol remained the same?

Where do your TT/FT levels sit on your current protocol 1-1.2 ml weekly which is a rather large dose of testosterone 200-240 mg/week if the strength is the most commonly prescribed 200 mg/ml.

Most men on trt are injecting 100-200 mg/week and can easily achieve a healthy TT/FT level on such dose and even then many would never need the upper-end dose (200 mg/week) let alone 200+ mg.

If you are switching over to Dutasteride than Finasteride is not needed.

you may want to consider higher dose finasteride prior to jumping on dutasteride. I am personally taking dutasteride for my hair with very good results however some guys have significant sides when you start dropping DHT down to those levels. You may want to see if 5mg finasteride helps you and to also make sure you dont have any issues.

If you do decide on dutasteride look into oral and topical. Due to its MW its less likely to go fully systemic and i believe has a better chance at staying in the scalp.

I add like 5 caps of duta to my minox. I also take duta orally 2x a week. My hair loss has stopped in its tracks last few years.

i use minox, retin a, duta, ketoconazole

TRT is not causing your hair loss. But your low TRT was slowing it down. And that would be the only good thing to come from low T. In my case yes it sped up my hair loss. Everything else on me looks a hell of a lot better than before my injections started. If I cared a lot about my hair I would start using Minoxidi and maybe get a doctor to have a topical finasteride prepration made up for me. Do not take finasteride pills. Yes it does slow down DHT production and that is why TRT injections speed up your genetic hair loss. But it causes far more problems than it is worth. Topically I hear it is harmless

So the TRT is causing his hair loss. My hair are receiding too and it started after the Testosterone use. I think there's not we can do beside using Finasteride or similar meds. We're going to be bald, it's a fate.

I've been using Finasteride and Minoxidil for 20 years. Haven't had any side effects, at least that I notice. Have a full head of hair.

Yes, because you use it. But you was recending when you started? And you have genetic to be bald? Any side effect from Finasteride?

Baldness runs in my family. Older brother is bald. My hair started falling out. Seems like it was happening all at once and fast. I started on both medications and within months it had stopped falling out and then proceeded to get thick and full again. I haven't noticed any of the side effects, but I do take a daily cialis and TRT. Just recently added in HCG and Clomid to get my testicles back up to size and see how this effects my testosterone levels, etc. Also, I have recently started taking several supplements (Zinc, Lecithin, L-arginine and Pygeum to see if it will increase my ability to produce precum and possibly increase semen volume. Been on it a few weeks and see an improvement. Not huge, but noticable. Perhaps the finasteride reduced my volume. It's hard to say, as I've been on it so long, and started taking Cialis around the same time, so who knows.
