Thinking about contacting Defy - some random thoughts

Been feeling really sluggish recently, so much so that I feel almost tingly/hazy at time in the mid to later afternoons and evenings and its been keeping me from having any energy to work out. I got a full blood work up, including thyroid in Dec with my primary care and he said all numbers were right where they should be. So I started reading up and am thinking about Defy since they are local.

I have to admit I was a bit shocked at the pricing of the treatment plan. I guess I didn't know what to expect, but with the "free consultation" kinda shocked me that actually talking to anyone in the office and the initial labs are a pretty substantial cash outlay. So on to the labs, I've read that you can submit to insurance afterwards. Has anyone had any luck doing this? Did you get anything back? And as far as the rough monthly cost of $150, I guess i would like to know if low-T is causing my feeling, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that financial commitment. Most here seem to be pretty happy with Defy. Anyone out there almost kinda on the fence with the monthly costs have any comments or suggestions?

I also learned that this medication is administered via self-shot. I guess everyone does this, so it seems easy, but I guess its something you get used to?

About the increased labido, how significant is it? Mine is already 100x over my wife and it already grates on me at times. I'm not sure I want to go even more so. Is it overstated or something that's very noticeable?

While not the primary reason for T-treatment, being mid-40's and lifting weight and not probably having the best genes for putting on muscle, can the increased testosterone make any significant difference in lean muscle gain? I guess this would def be a plus for me as I can't seem to add any the regular way :)

anyway, those are just some random thoughts and questions I had after reading a bunch about Defy the other night. Appreciate any comments and suggestions.

If you have insurance you have lab orders sent to you and use your insurance. You don't have to use injections. If you have good libido you probably don't have low T. Your tired and that is caused from poor sleep. You may need a sleep study.

I do sometimes have trouble sleeping. I can fall asleep right away but often times wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep again. I do have some ED but I think its been brought on my too much porn, so I think I'm hoping the normal solution to stop watching will work for that. But yeah, the high labido kinda struck me as odd too for low T.

Its just that the exhaustion hits me so suddenly and hard I was thinking it might be something else.

thanks for the thoughts.

My testosterone levels measured at 177 before I started with Defy. I could get wood on a moments notice and could screw several times per day if my wife would let me. So don’t take that as meaning everything.

As to my sex drive now...it’s the same. The morning wood is real which sucks when you have to pee and you have a massive boner pointing at the ceiling.

As to the lean mass...I’m 44 and I started lifting again about 2 month before starting TRT. The lean mass and body fat reduction is real. I do have pretty good genes for muscle mass and I have muscle memory since I used to be in excellent shape.

I have insurance but I have not tried using it with defy yet. It does get expensive but very worth it...very worth it.
Sure I could self medicate for a fraction of the cost but I like having the doctor behind my treatments.

I would get a complete set of testosterone labs, along with a complete set of thyroid labs. TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3 and both antibodies. You could run it through defy Medical and get a consultation. There's also discount labs. You could run your labs through them and get a complete picture of where you're at. Remember trt is a lifelong commitment, make sure you really need it before you start.

Dr's often say and tell you everything looks good and is often the furthest from the truth. the thing to know with lab ranges is that no one decided X is normal...a lab range is just a sample of the population that that lab is testing. No Dr or Scientist determined X, Y, or Z is optimal or "normal".

based on your post I'd defer more to looking in to the Thyroid. If you have those old labs please post those and let us look.

In the end, TRT is an out of pocket expense and Defy has the bestest lowest cost model out there. There are a number of things you can do to lower your costs if you just talk to them about limiting the costs to the essential labs and the essential meds.

thanks for all of the thoughts. Will ask for some of my old labs, although its nothing T related - just the standard yearly checkup sort of stuff.

I would be curious though to get a complete workup from Defy. But as someone said above, its almost a lifelong commitment and that's sort of what I was afraid of.

Oh I’m sorry I thought by full blood work up you meant testosterone too.
