Success with TRT and Thyroid medication

Hello everyone,

I’ve been on TRT on and off for about a year now, and the one issue that I’ve had before TRT and during TRT is lack of energy. Prior to starting TRT there were two issues that I had with my blood work. Below normal testosterone and high TSH. With further testing I found out that I suffer from Hashimotos. My TSH wasn’t ridiculously high but it would range from 2.5-5.5. I tried synthroid and immediately felt better, the only issue that it lasted for only a couple of weeks. I then increase my dosage and again I felt better for a short period of time and then felt terrible again. At this point I figured that my low t was the culprit. I eventually got on TRT and felt great, my strength, endurance, and libido increased significantly. My energy was good but not where I wanted it to be. I experimented with different dosages of T4, T3, and NDT but it always seems as if my body adjusts and goes back to having low energy. The only thing I haven’t tried is T3 only.

For about 4 months I got off of my thyroid medication and felt great for a while, eventually the symptoms came back hard. It seems as if I’ll have to rely on thyroid medication for the rest of my life.

Is there anyone on this forum who has had success with thyroid medication? All I’m looking for is more energy and better fat loss. If anyone has had success please list your protocol.

You definitely will feel better if you get thyroid levels in a good range. Can you post all of your labs. TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3 are both antibodies along with the ranges.

Here are my labs from being off meds for 4+ months only T and anastrozole were used. Despite my free thyroid hormones looking good I definitely felt fatigue combined with cold hands and feet.

I’ve been on thyroid meds (NDT) since 12/01/18 so, I’ll be getting blood work on 1/08/19 to see where things are at after being on NDT.

Vince, are you currently on thyroid meds? If so, what is your current protocol?

Yes I am on thyroid meds, I'm currently adjusting my dose down and will have labs February 18th. It looks like your labs are incomplete, I definitely will get a complete thyroid panel. You can't do much with limited labs.
