Hello, I just got some blood results back and am wondering if anything in here would be contributing to my symptoms.

Brain fog
Low motivation
Low concentration
Over weight (stalled out on weight loss on keto/carnivore diet)

The brain fog is the worst of the symptoms. It just makes it hard to concentrate on anything.

I thought the blood work I ordered included tsh, but I must have misread it. This is the next labs I should probably run.

With your high fasting glucose of 97, I wonder if you’re eating too much protein?. If you eat too much protein, your body will convert it into carbs.

I would get a complete thyroid panel, TSH, free T4, free T-3, reverse T3, and both antibodies.

It looks like you have secondary hypogonadism. You may want to try Enclomiphene, before you think of testosterone replacement therapy.

Your brain fog ain't that bad if you can come up with a clever title like that ! ; - )

I can't speak to your bloodwork and frankly never looked at it but....

Speaking for myself, who had symptoms such as yours among others..... Things really began to change for me when I tackled my weight.

The more I concentrated on learning about my body, the more interested I became and found myself concentrating more on the knowledge of health.

With a lot of effort and self determination, the weight started to come off and that motivated me to phase II and I got to the gym to push around some weight around.

Write down EVERYTHING you eat every day and assign a caloric value. There are a ton of apps out there. You will be surprised.

I was dubbin' around with 60 lbs or so at the gym and thought I was doing something..... A muscled up kid came by and said:
"I see you're here a lot. You're doing good but you need more weight"

He was right and within two weeks, I was doing #140 like nothing ! I couldn't believe it and then I really started to see a difference in the mirror (still not a pretty sight, but hey....)

I dropped a pant size and my self confidence and self esteem returned and with it came more determination and more motivation.

Brain fog ? I contributed mine to a surrender to laziness. I was content.
You have to exercise your brain as well and maybe first (?)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think TRT is a magic pill and you really have to do some soul searching, make a commitment and give it some time. (this is my 42nd week)

Remember what the old guy said.....
"The first step to getting back on your feet is getting up off your ass"

Good luck out there and God Bless.... You can do it !

I was wondering about that. I have read that doing keto for extended periods of time can lower t3, which also causes my symptoms.

Has the keto diet changed your thyroid panel in any way?

I will say that I have more of a dirty keto approach currently. I also have one day a week where I eat whatever, so I would say I'm probably only in ketosis for 4-5 days a week.

Thanks for the reply! I'm down 50lbs since January, but have been stalled at my current weight since june'ish. I have gained and lost these 50lbs a bunch of times over the years. This time around it has been just diet and no gym work. I haven't been to the gym in over a year. But, I've still had brain fog when I was doing 5x5 and 531 programs, possibly even worse when lifting hard.

Also, my fasting glucose is up ticking. I dont know if its dawn phenomenon or what, but my 12+ hour fasting blood glucose has been over 100 since I got a glucose meter last month. This is on keto days intermittent fasting.

It depends on what you mean by keto? It’s a high fat, low protein and very low carb? As we know protein will convert into glucose, if you eat too much of it.

I'm wondering if anyone thinks trt will help with symptoms based on these labs?

Your FT levels are on the low end.

Did you have blood work done in a fasted state between 8-10 am?

Keep in mind that cutting calories too low or not eating enough fat can drive down natty T levels.

Let alone when in a severe calorie deficit combined with intense training is a recipe for disaster when it comes to endogenous T.

Labs were done at 10:15 am. I haven't worked out in over a year.

I'm in a 400-500 caloric deficit 6 days a week based on my fitness pal. I was considering dropping calories more bc my weight loss has stalled for quite some time.

Thanks for the reply

am I missing it somewhere? How old are you? I assume you are not on HRT now? I would probably want to see a doctor for a program if I had those numbers.

I'm 43. Not on HRT. I've been dealing with symptoms for probably the last 5 years and I've had anxiety/ocd my whole life.
I made an appointment with the urologist so we'll see how that goes.
