Guys, need some help. Took antidepressants for about 10 years. When I quit I noticed a decrease of erections to the point where I can't one on my own. I am 3 months into a TRT protocol as well with little results. My total is 432 now and free is 8.2 . When I quit antidepressants I can't last near as long. I have contacted Defy and am set up for consultation. Question: I have to fill out a physical form stating that I had a physical ,which i have had, and has to be signed by doctor giving physical. I'm worried that my current doctor, who after long time convincing him to prescribe TRT will cut me off due to they might think I'm going to another doctor. any advise would be great just wanting to be able to enjoy life again

Go to an urgent care or walk-in clinic and get your physical there instead. No worries that way and its going to be faster as well.

Say you're seeking a second opinion with regard to your treatment. It shouldn't be a problem.

If the thought of this makes you that uncomfortable, make some calls and find an urgent care facility that will give you a sports physical.

The urgent care facility I used accepted walk-ins and provided me with a sports physical. $39. No fuss, no muss. I had my consult a week ago. :)

Jeez I think that might be cheaper than going to your GP

MinuteClinics @ CVS PHarmacy work well for this. I had my Nurse Practitioner do it so it was all wrapped up in my insurance and it was about as complete a physical as I've ever had.

I must be lucky, my primary doctor is fine with me going to Defy and even helps me even get my labs through my insurance. I keep him informed with what goes on with Defy and my TRT.

SoCAl, thank you for sharing
I wish all patient GP's were as accommodating as the system was designed for this exact interaction for optimal MD support.

Steve, You are correct to be concerned about your current prescriber learning of your visit to another practice. Yes, he might think you are getting medicine behind his back and yes he may well cut you off or write nasties in your chart.

It shouldn't be that way. You may wish to drop any doc who feels that way about your getting a second opinion. I am seeing an older doc who is eminently qualified in his specialty. I need him for what he does and have no options. Six weeks ago he learned that I had consulted one of the popular telemed practices here. This caused a rift wider than the San Andres. He had never prescribed a single hormone for me. I have not been back to see him.

In the very near future every script, lab and office visit will be tracked on the federal surveillance system. This is already the case for interstate truck drivers. Be aware of the paper trail you leave when using insurance in this country. When it comes to HRT pay cash whenever you can and opt out of web-based patient portals.

No reason to spend extra money. If your PCP can't deal with you seeing a specialist, then they should not be your PCP. Only one way to determine that, let them know what you are doing, and tell them you will share the results along the way. Maybe your PCP will actually learn something through the process. If he is not happy about it, then you are better off finding a new PCP.

My primary doctor tried talking me out of TRT when I got my physical. I respected her opinion but I know it's only her opinion.

My local MinuteClinic at CVS PHarmacy would charge $59.00 but I was told since I have a unstable condition(CRPS) they could not preform the exam.

ALL TRUE... logic doesn't prevail:

"IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY"

any bureaucrat is happy to confirm

Local clinic in Grand Rapids MI cost me $77 for the physical. Tried going through my GP but after initially scheduling it for 4/15 I was then told that he doesn't do physicals on that day and then had it scheduled for a week later... Yet again proving that I just need to find another GP as this one has proved to be worthless...

A truck driver physical has everything that Defy requires. Pick up the form at any DMV or download it. Use the intrastate not the longer federal DOT interstate form. It is in a format that makes completion by any doctor or nurse practitioner a simple matter to complete in 20 minutes.

Very low cost for this physical. Available at:
- local DPH community health centers usually offer free or sliding scale
- any doctor and many urgent care centers
- dedicated medical offices for driver exams
- most industrial urgent care centers located in industrial districts , lower cost than reg medical offices

If your labor union locals haven't yet been boarded up give them a call.

If you tow any combination of vehicles over 10,000 lbs, including RV's, you are now required to upgrade your license in many states so this is valuable to have. Check your state DMV site.

old versus new DOT medical
Pick up the old "intrastate driver" medical form at the DMV (not the new federal DOT one for interstate drivers). The new interstate DOT driver has to be performed by fed certified doctors certified and is not the medical to ask for.

BE SURE to tell the clinic when making the appointment that this is intra, non-DOT rather than not interstate DOT driver exam. Much confusion lately by docs who use to perform the old exam mistakenly believe that they are prohibited from still performing the the old exam. They still can. It just won't fly for interstate drivers.

Ok. So, get the physical and no need to show a CDL license, because that's what your trying to do. I'll check it out more when I have time. The whole intrastate versus interstate and the Docs getting confused about it is confusing to me as well !

I forgot about that primary doctor I had, I really like her as my doctor. She's no longer in my network and I really do like my new primary doctor. She has no problem with me being on TRT.
