Hi

I’m hoping you guys can help me out.

For the last 6 months I have been on:
125mg’s Test E every 4 days sub q
also, using anastrozole, sporadic use of HCG
and also Proviron at 50-100mg a day (because my SHBG was 72).

This is all self ‘designed’, sourced and administered because I’m in the UK.

I have had numb/tingling hands for over 3 weeks almost all the time.
Had my hematocrits levels checked and it was 51% (or .51)

I spoke to my doctor and explained exactly what I had been doing and my symptoms and she had no clue what I was talking about or any links etc. SHE said that I was within the acceptable range for hematocrit and we should do blood tests to see if there is another explanation for the hands.

I’m wondering if you have any links to medical research studies to show that 51 is high, there is a link between taking testosterone and hematocrits levels rising and also that therapeutic phlebotomy can treat this; ideally something more official than “ I heard about it on a forum” that I could send/show my doctor and convince her to give me a Therapeutic Phlebotomy, or at least refer me to a specialist.

Thanks in advance.

51 is breaching the limits, here in the US the labs range top out at 50. It may be different for you but here in the states we just donate blood on our own, no Dr involvement except in very rare circumstances. You probably have a blood bank or an equivalent to the US Red Cross. That's all it takes, donate 1pint of blood.

This will take care of it. Can you, however, post the ranges your lab uses? What's the upper limit for HCT on your lab report? Your doctor should be aware of the need to monitor hematocrit in any and all circumstances, not just in relation TRT. If she doesn't, that's a bigger issue that speaks to her overall competence.

Thanks for the responses. Welcome to the NHS in the UK!

They use a decimal range which I believe translates directly to the percentage; of 0.40 - 0.54 (40-54%)

Yes, unfortunately I stupidly screwed myself with the blood donation. On the form I ticked yes to having seen a doctor in the last 7 days as I figured they'd have this info anyway. Then explained it was to chase up tests from april about slightly low blood pressure. Because of this they refused to do the donation. I obviously feel stupid about this now, especially given that I'd lied about the injecting drugs part anyway.

Just go to another blood bank is that possible? I wouldn't worry about the injecting part, it's hormones, not street drugs, there's a difference.

I don't think it will be possible, I believe they put a note on my record now to say to follow up in 6 months. We only have 1 blood donation provider here. In addition, I will be travelling to the states (Florida from the 12th of December- 26th of Jan), which brings up another issue I need to somehow overcome as well.

You may be able to donate in the US depending on your age, although they don't allow people who lived in the UK from the 80s to 1996 for more than 3 months.

my doctor referred me to a specialist and he told me he's will just watch it.
He wouldn't refer me for therapeutic phlebotomy.
I can't donate blood because I had hep C. I had treatment and was cured, but they won't let me.
