N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), as a nutritional supplement, is a greatly applied antioxidant in vivo and in vitro. NAC is a precursor of L-cysteine that results in glutathione elevation biosynthesis. It acts directly as a scavenger of free radicals, especially oxygen radicals. NAC is a powerful antioxidant. It is also recommended as a potential treatment option for different disorders resulted from generation of free oxygen radicals. Additionally, it is a protected and endured mucolytic drug that mellows tenacious mucous discharges. It has been used for treatment of various diseases in a direct action or in a combination with some other medications. This paper presents a review on various applications of NAC in treatment of several diseases.

Thanks for the article. Will NAC increase RBC, Hct or Hemaglobin levels?

I’ve bought up an inventory and noticed other vendors still carrying. FDA and Amazon have weird relationship. Not sure what was specific driver of this was. The reason is vague from what I read.

Weird and unfortunate as NAC is really good. I take 3000mg as anxiolytic, for health issues from TBI and have for while.

Very helpful.

Here in Portugal and Italy we can buy Fluimucil 600mg (N-acetyl cysteine) really cheap without precriptions.
But it is mainly used for these problems:
This is an expectorant medicine indicated when you have difficulty expecting and there is a lot of dense and viscous secretion, such as acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis and your exacerbations (worsening of the clinical picture and complications), pulmonary emphysema (chronic disease characterized by the compromise of the lungs)

FDA has been going after fish oil for years also. They get the push through on a long time otc supplement like NAC and others likely will be next.

Am I missing something? I just checked pure encapsulation’s website and they still have NAC for sale. I know Amazon banned the sale of NAC, but can’t we still get it by just going through each brand’s actual website?

I bought a bunch through iHerb. It’s mostly Amazon that’s down for now but I’m sure the others will follow eventually.

Going to be weird if underground labs start selling NAC and fish oil.

Well, here's my 3 month update after taking NAC 600mg 2x per day. My HDL looks like it actually went down about 10% (34 vs 31). My Triglycerides though improved and went down by about 22% (159 vs 123) which is probably the first time in 5 years they've been under 150.
Higher testosterone dose can cause these two decreases. By any chance, did you increase you T dose while trying NAC for HDL?
