So after trying injections for 2.5 years I went back to testosterone pellets. I'm one week in and my libido is already coming back strong. I started on pellets 6 years ago and stayed on them for 3 years and they always worked great. I stopped them because every now and then I'd have one that would work it's way out. I'll just deal with it if that happens.

They don't aromatase like injections do so I don't have to worry about too high E2 or crashing it with AI. My total T gets up around 1400-1500 on pellets at the peak and my E2 will be 40-50. Perfect!! I just get that slow steady drip of T from pellets and life is good.

My new protocol will be testosterone pellets. No AI, No HCG, just the T!!!!

Good to hear. The simpler the better. I’m on t only as well and just do 60mg per week once weekly cypionate. I think many of have been guilty of over complicating things when there’s no need.

I would think the main issue with pellets, is the cost. Of course for you this is isn't an issue. But for members that cost is an issue. What is the difference you pay, weekly and yearly, pellets versus injections.

At least you have previous experience on pellets and chances are you will do well.

Regarding the libido, you are only one week and I would not jump to any conclusions just yet.....get back to us in a few months on that one!

It's about $400 a year more expensive for pellets for me

$2400 per year for pellets

Cypionate - $500 per year
HCG - $350 per year
AI - $100 per year
Doctor visits (twice per year Telemed) - $400
blood work twice per year - $650

Libido was raging for the first three years on pellets. I don't see why it wouldn't be raging again. Libido only fell off when starting injections. I never really had it during injections.....at least not at a high level

Keep in mind that a lot can change in the body over 2.5 years.

As you very well know there is much more involved than TT, FT, e2, DHT, and prolactin when it comes to libido let alone ED.

Pellets are not a replacement for hCG. And if you don't need an AI on pellets then you wouldn't need it on injections with the appropriate dosing. So pellets are at least $850 more expensive. Are you getting the same level of lab testing in the $2400 for pellets?

Testosterone from pellets aromatizes exactly the same as testosterone from injected esters. In either case the amount of aromatization is related to the amount of free testosterone. With injections you have much better control over the level of free testosterone. The only point in favor of pellets is that you skip the hassle of injections. But testosterone undecanoate injected every few weeks is probably still a better choice.

In the pursuit of libido only, pellets work for me soooo much better. Injections and pellets both work great for me in terms of energy, antidepressant effects, and mood......but the libido was always not very strong at all with injections on any protocol(for whatever reason). I'll take the extra few hundred dollars yearly for libido alone.

One week in and you are jumping the gun. Quick improvements 99% of the time go just as quick.

To those seeking the return of the elusive honeymoon: years of collective posts have shown that changing things up always certainly works for a couple days or weeks

I dont mean to shoot you down, perhaps you will fall into the remaining 1%, especially given your past experiance.

Good to see someone posting on what actually works for them. But I still don’t understand why pellets would result in higher libido than injections (w/ long duration ester) assuming the doses are the same. Either way, it’s steady state protocol.

I have a theory but it's all bro science.....

- The slower steady rise of testosterone over 6-8 weeks and then the decline over 6-8 weeks may make the T aromatase less....Similar to people going to daily injections? Pellets are a continuous "IV drip" in a way. They're constantly dissolving releasing T into the system over months of time.

- Or, maybe its the fluctuation of testosterone levels that helps me? It's always slowly going up or down over 3 months time?

- Or, maybe it has something to do with cypionate itself vs. a BioTe concentrated dry pellet?

I'm not sure if any of these are accurate or correct. I don't really care as long as the pellets work, lol.

I get really high levels at the very peak of around 1400-1500 and then it slowly dissapates to around 500-700 when I was getting my next set of pellets. If I waited too long I started feeling terrible so I'd always get them in 3 month intervals.

I'm now remembering the libido I had previous to injections when I was on pellets for 3 years prior to starting injections. I'd get the pellets and 5-10 days later the mood and libido would greatly improve. It was through the roof back then and it's growing again now. Some might say it's a placebo effect but I disagree. It worked back then and it's starting to work now.....my wife is happy again!! I didn't need tadalafil/Cialis this week. woohoo!! I may still use them recreationally though, ha!! I just hated having to use them to make sure things worked.

I'm not a doctor and I don't pretend I know enough to know why pellets work better than injections but they do FOR ME. Everyone is different.

What type of pellets are you using?

Aromatization is not the problem. You need estrogen for libido. Low libido usually indicates you’re messing with AIs.
I tried injections with and without AI's and the libido was never really there in a strong way. Maybe it wasn't aromatization. Maybe it was something else, who knows.

I'm glad its working for you, and that's what matters. I tried pellets when I was first on TRT about 7 years ago. Didn't like the bruising, bumps and the lack of control. Sometimes one would slip out. With injections you can make adjustments easily. But if it works for you, stay with it. No doubt I've had highs and lows on injections. Hardest thing to manage is the E.

True, the insertion site is sore for about 5 days for me which isn't the best. The new lady at the doctors office inserts them higher these days which seems to be a better spot. I'm not sitting on that spot and she says she has way less pellets getting extruded when she puts them higher up on the cheek. I did like being able to adjust with injections but I never found a good sweet spot. Plus, everyone said it takes 8-12 weeks to normalize on a new protocol and I'll be getting pellets every twelve weeks anyway so I can increase or decrease my dosage at that time if needed.

Agreed on the E2 management on injections. It was always like black magic to me no matter what protocol I tried.

This is really interesting. You should test for dht on pellets and compare it to dht on injections. On injections I convert everything to estrogen and would be interesting to see if pellets convert more to dht
