FSH level on transdermal estrogen

HRT regime

• Transdermal estrogen, Oestrogel, 2 pumps each morning, a total of 1500 micrograms
• Half the month also take Utrogestan (progesterone) 2 per night, a total of 200mg

50-year-old female, a few months on HRT, still having periods.

Test Results

Test was in the morning, during the Luteal phase, the gel had been applied before the test, utrogestan (progesterone) was not being taken at the time of the test.

FHS 10.4 IU/L range 1.7 - 7.7
LH 4.5 IU/L RANGE 1.14
Oestradiol 401 pmol/L RANGE 82-1251

Normal for FSH to be high, was expecting FSH to be suppressed by HRT?

TEST before HRT

17.9 IU/L (not sure what phase of cycle)

Test also showed low folate

The high FSH in females can be from primary ovarian insufficiency (POI).

An elevation in FSH levels may also be a sign of menopause, but since you're still having periods...
