Fatty liver disease

I think that is something that has been going on for years and I have ignored it for too long.

When I was a little kid I have been very overweight and had severe fatty liver, I was even on some meds. Then started doing sports and condition improved.

In 2017 way before I have started TRT I've been to gastro and she told me I have fatty liver, but didnt put much emphasis on that and I also thought it is something minor.

I know for the last two years my bilirubin is always high, and when I started injecting TRT IM iron is also above range, reverse T3 is also high. I was told these are other signs of the fatty liver and I will try to visit a very respected specialist in my country regarding such diseases, but may need to wait a lot. My liver enzymes are always in range though.

Do you think the elevated bilirubin and iron can be caused by fatty liver? I read some study suggesting bilirubin and fatty liver are reversely correlated.

I have high bilirubin on TRT, doctors found the gilbert's syndrome gene which means my liver doesn't excrete bilirubin properly. There is no treatment for gilbert's syndrome.

I have fatty liver as well.

My bilirubin was also high before TRT, now on TRT may be getting a bit higher.
Isnt gilbert's syndrome supposed to make you feel like not having a good appetite all the time? All my life I've been just on the other pole.

Also can the gilbert's syndrome be discovered in any other way except gene testing?

Can you please elaborate a bit which test is that? Thank you
Ciao,
Sorry but this test was done in Italy so its in Italian.
All three values are important to understand liver function .
I have had fatty liver for many years and now I am really trying to loose weight to see if that helps ( lost 14 kg already ) .
In about a month I will do the test again to see if something changes but I understand it's a long road ahead.

He may be referring to the GGT test. Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) is the best and most sensitive measure of liver function and disease.

Isnt this the third liver enzyme? I test every time the 3 - ASAT, ALAT and GGT and they are always in range and on the low side.

I exchanged message with the doctor after booking appointment through the app, she suggested to me to test in advance for chronic hepatitis(I hope it is not that) and she will test me there for Gilbert. She says according to her there is no connection between elevated bilirubin and fatty liver.

I wonder whether my all-time excessive appetite has any connection to my liver issues... My brother is the same way, he is also overweight and as a kid had fatty liver and now he is with IR. I have very very small IR, did 2 glucose loading tests, most endos would not even notice it.

Yellow skin is the only symptom, which doesn't require attention from what my doctor tells me. I only got yellow skin on daily injections which is what prompted testing on liver, thyroid and for Gilbert's.

It turned out I have fatty liver disease, too high stomach acid, anatomically folded gallbladder by birth releasing more fluid and some very small stones in the kidneys. I started taking some meds for the kidneys and the stomach acid, enzymes for the stomach and a bunch of supplements for the liver. Im determined to drop 10kg of body mass in the next month and will go next week for a fibroscan of the liver.

Do you think any of these issues can cause elevated reverse T3?

Tchau,
