All,
I have friend who states that after orgasm from masturbation, will feel depressed, crappy, etc, but doesn't after orgasm during intercourse. He also asks about his refractory period. He states :
"Vulnerable question -- does anybody else have a pretty severe refractory period? If so, have you found any way to help turn it around?

As I have gotten older the post-orgasm emotional hit has gotten much worse. It's mitigated somewhat when the orgasm is from actual sex with Mrs. Kilt because there is an exchange of energy there and emotional support along with it; but when I orgasm from masturbating alone it more often than not triggers an all day depression. I have gotten to the point that I just won't masturbate anymore because I'm unwilling to take the hit."

He hasn't done blood tests so I can't give that type of data. Any ideas on what to look at, this k about would be great. He is not on trt.

People are always looking to fix a problem as if its as physiological issue. This sounds completely psychological and for us to speculate on why he feels this way would be a shot in the dark. It could be the way he was raised, a trauma, unhealthy suxueal behaviors, insecurities. The list is of possible issues and their genesis is infinite based on the information provided.

Understand. He's a retired marine. I will mention what you've said with respect to psychological issue. And asides from going to counseling, on a physiological level what would you say to look at as a starting point? Basic blood panel? Prolactin? I ask, despite what you've stated, because this man is a pretty intelligent and driven guy. He's going to Ballon chart out with two separate balloons, physical and psychosomatic, prioritize from both and turn it into a dual path troubleshooting plan.

I had the same issue on injections, but not oral testosterone. An effective protocol will have a positive psychological impact and one that is not very effective will have a negative consequences. This could mean your protocol is not very effective.

Interesting in how the different delivery methods affect different people. As I mentioned he's not on TRT and it's not me.

I think when some guys stray too far from their natural circadian rhythm, treatment becomes ineffective. The injections produces a flat and steady hormone profile whereas the oral Test (Jatenzo) produces peaks followed by a low every 12 hours two separate times per day.

Correct but maybe you and your friends natural delivery system is no longer enough.

There is a lot to this question and difficult to answer without more details. Here's my best guess. I agree this is very much a psychological/emotional wellness issue. Sexual stimulation and orgasms releases neurotransmitters, especially dopamine. This is the pleasure chemical. If the self stimulation is being used to cover depression or there is a pornography addiction or it involves a sense of guilt/shame, it can create a nasty cycle of feel good for a little bit, followed by a let down. As the cycle repeats it gets worse. This is exactly the same process drug addicts go through. It is different with his wife because he is bonding with another person who is in a relationship with, which releases lots of other positive chemicals in his brain, and other emotional benefits.

Get back to us on that one when you have put the time in!

You just started using Jatenzo.
