Are millilitre amounts consistent across syringes?

I am switching from insulin needle to a more typical syringe with (reduced) deadspace, to try out deeper IM injections. What is confusing is that insulin needles have no dead space whilst typical syringes do. Making the switch I really want to avoid fluctuations, I have a narrow dose where I feel good.

Will 0.5ml on the insulin needle result in the same volume as 0.5ml on the regular syringe? Has anyone here gone from one to the other and experienced a need to change dose (with deadspace accounted for) or does it end up being pretty similar between the two?

Low dead-volume syringe and needle combination. Should have a dead-volume of no more than 35 microlitres (0.035 mL)
