Is it ill advised to take accutane while on TRT?

Ive tried seriously nearly everything for back acne and no success. I know Accutane can mess with lipids so I was wondering: If I take a bout of accutane should I get off TRT? or stay on through the entirety of the accutane usage (7 months)?

Yes, the risks are the same whether on TRT or not. Accurate can kill your libido that may never return to normal.
you know. I hear tons of horror stories online. But majority of people Ive talked to in person have told me they have had no issues

after 10 years of bad back acne with no solution, I dotn really have any other options. a damper on TRT libido mught be a good thing if anything lol
It’s no different than robbing Peter to pay Paul. In the end you’ll end up paying for it. No one knows what will happen long term partially blocking the conversion of testosterone to the DHT.

Those who want to volunteer to be a guinea pig, have at it.

Low dose accutane is the key, 5-10mg/day. The only side effect will be dry lips, and you must use sunscreen on exposed areas.

The problem is that acne will come back when you stop it, so it is a treatment, not a cure.

Decline in Testosterone is Associated with Cognitive Decline in Older Men
In univariate analysis, change in all the studied hormones, except for E2, was significantly associated with cognitive decline. However, in multivariate-adjusted models accounting for potential confounders, only change in serum T (β=0.067), DHT (β=0.394), cFT (β=0.005) and E1 (β=0.009) remained significantly (p<0.05) associated with cognitive decline.

This is not a given even when using low doses.

No one can say for sure how one will react!

Sure about that?

* It is currently the only drug that can cure acne and maintain the result with even a single cycle, provided that the protocol is followed properly, i.e. until complete remission of the symptoms plus a further month thereafter. In fact, recurrence occurs when the lesions are still in an inflammatory phase, as long as the recommended cumulative dose is not exceeded. As reported in our review, new effective oral isotretinoin formulations and new dosing regimens, including low-dose isotretinoin (0.1–0.3 mg/kg daily) or intermittent protocols have been proposed in order to reduce dose-dependent drug-related adverse events, avoiding treatment discontinuation [6]. Knowledge of the appropriate dose of the drug, periodic laboratory evaluation, the adoption of contraceptive methods in females, and a correct lifestyle have positive effects on the treatment process

Need to keep this in mind too when f**king with that sht!

*Isotretinoin has both serotonin reuptake inhibiting and 5 alpha-reductase inhibiting properties

Unlike some commenting here, I have been on low dose accutane and am quite sure about everything I said.

Invitro studies or studies of the usual ultra-high doses of accutane for acne have absolutely no relevance to the low dose regimen. Acne might be resolved on ultra-high doses, it will come back after stopping a low dose regimen. And there are actual studies on that.

Low dose is 5-10mg accutane per day. It works by reducing skin oiliness (hence the dry lips side effect) and probably by antiinflammatory action of accutane. Low dose is used for mild acne and for rosacea and works slowly, it will take several weeks to notice some effect on acne.

A low dose of any medication can be a high dose for someone who is sensitive to medicines. Some men can’t even tolerate 5 mg Cialis daily without insane headaches.

I've been on both high and low dose. While the high dose resolved the majority of my cystic acne (after an initial severe breakout) I still cystic acne on my forehead. I can't prove it but I believe that the accutane caused my problems with my joints and libido.

I also did a low does a couple of years later and it helped with the acne on the forehead while I was taking it but they came back shortly after stopping.

PS I also dealt with some depression while on the heavy dose.

Has trt solved the libido issue?

Were you on trt during any of those doses?
