San Antonio, TX with 588 test

Looking for Dr recommendations in San Antonio, TX.

Had my test checked a few weeks ago. It was 588. Am I wasting my time trying to get on TRT? Thanks

Welcome to Excel Male. It depends. How do you feel? What is your free T, shbg and estradiol. You could still have low free T with 588 Total.

It appears you've wasted your time already, total testosterone in the absence of free testosterone doesn't tell us anything. SHBG binds sex hormones and if elevated, your total testosterone wouldn't matter as your free testosterone would likely be in the gutter.

Free testosterone is the portion of testosterone circulating in your bloodstream, total testosterone is bound to SHBG and therefore not bioavailable.

Feel lethargic, low motivation, weak in the gym, depressed at times.

As I suspected, high SHBG is the only way you could possibly experience low testosterone with an Total T of 588. TRT is your only way forward as injectable testosterone lowers SHBG which will free up more Free T.

You will require levels near or above the normal ranges to ever have enough Free T.

I would say you're wasting time by not being on TRT.
