I just ordered some from relableRX through your link. I ordered the 25mg and the 50mg, very good price. I will post my results. I have a question. When using your method of chewing the tab, do you need to take it an empty stomach?

Really need some help on trying to sleep, cortisol is highest at 12am

I finally got my Quetiapine for sleep from reliableRX, my order got inspected in customs and rejected. Reliable sent me a new order and I finally got it yesterday. The same day I had my wellness physical, my doctor talk me out of using it and recommended Trazodone 50mg. She told she's had good success with patients using Trazodone 50mg to 150mg. Supposed you don't never need to increase the dose and it's not habit forming. So I'm wondering anyone tried Trazodone?

Trazodone did nothing for me, other than make me feel like a zombie the next day. I used zolpidem effectively for years but I've built up a tolerance to it and it is getting less effective, I'm hoping to try quetiapine soon.

Quitiapine in low doses of 25-50mg can be prescribed for sleep. You need to be aware that this drug is an antipsychotic when prescribed in high doses, and a bipolar med at moderate doses.medium doses. It's ok to buy from an overseas pharmacy, just be sure that your MD gives you a prescription. This can be a dangerous drug.

You are better off looking into some natural remedies for sleep ailment. Most of us here want a quick fix, but these “sleep meds” are powerful and sleep is an off label use for quitiapine and trazadone, and therefore more dangerous than one would think.

I'm planning on trying Trazodone 50mg for sleep. I started using 3mg of melatonin for sleep again, it seems to be working pretty good. I feel I need to get a good night sleep to be at the top of my game at work. I'm not ready to retire yet.

I'm in the same boat at 64. I plan on working full time till 67 and part time till 70. I don't have sleep issues , but I am an early to bed early to rise guy. Wife and I live a rural lifestyle and TV and a bad diet aren't in the equation. Very content with that and happy. I think if it isn't broke then why try to fix it?

Have you tried lowering your thyroid hormone dose? I found that following the usual STTM recommendations of using NDT only, getting TSH down near 1, free T3 and freeT4 toward the upper end of the range, etc, just totally wrecks any hope of me getting a decent nights sleep. I've switched to a low dose of levothyroxine and sleep much better even though on paper my thyroid labs are much worse.

I am planning on trying it and will post my results. It comes with my doctor's recommendation, I'm surprised how popular is of a sleeping aid it is.

I still haven't optimize my thyroid and still working on that with my lipidologist. I don't know if I ever get my thyroid panel in a good range.

I just happened to see your thread on Trazadone for sleep. (I haven't been on this sight for a while). Anyways, I have taken many prescription drugs over the last 12 years for my insomnia. Trazadone worked fairly well for me except for the bazaar dreams that I was having. My dreams were extremely vivid while taking Trazadone which wasn't a problem for me. The problem became the bazaar and rather evil nature of the dreams which was enough for me to discontinue. I also experienced some short term memory issues that were less than when I take Ambien on a regular basis but nevertheless I did deal with some short term memory issues.I have a friend that takes Trazadone and it seems to work well for her. Most recently, I was taking Buspar. It was working very well for several months and then became completely ineffective despite raising the dosage. I am experimenting with ashwaganda and liquid melatonin at the moment. I'm at least falling asleep but the quality of sleep is about a 6 out of 10. I was talking with a doc that takes ashwaganda for sleep and she said it takes 6 months before it is really effective. I'm actually visiting a sleep specialist next week so I'll keep you posted.

The pain doc I work for prescribes it.
Muscle relaxant and help for sleep.
We haven't seen any habit-forming side effects from it or anything like that.

Be careful with quetiapine(Seroquel) as it has many side effects. Weight gain and increases in blood sugar and triglycerides are common. I experienced all of these after taking Seroquel in doses of 50-100 mg/day for 4 years. It worked great for sleep, but then I switched doctors and the new one immediately took me off of it after showing me the long list of side effects.

So what did you do instead?

To all those thinking about taking "Seroquel / Quetiapine", at a low dose for sleep please be aware of the following! It took me close to 1 year to liquid taper from this medication around six years ago "The W/D Was Hell". Not as bad as Benzo W/D, however nonetheless not something I would want to relive / revisit if I had the choice! Also if you somehow forgot to take it or (IE) vacation your going to have a difficult time sleeping..and oh yah the "W/D", that usually comes along with it! I took a dose even small then 0.25 mg for a around two weeks and ended up in the hospital "Thought I Was Dying"

I found, that if I just use 10 mg of melatonin, 25 mg of DHEA and 10 mg of pregnenolone before bed I get a good night sleep.

Is that the extended release melatonin?

A couple of nights ago, I made the mistake of taking high potency B complex and Cq10 before sleep, I was wired for 3-4 hours and could not sleep. Of course it may not have been those two supplements, but info online suggests that these could keep one awake and no reason for me to experiment.

I fall asleep easily, but wake up often in 2 hour intervals. I don't have to pee, though since I am up I often go to the bathroom because sooner or later I will have to.

Dhea + melatonin didn't seem to help me stay asleep, and 25 mg dhea boosted my Dhea levels far above normal.

I have read taking exogenous melatonin only lasts about 1-2 hours.

Lately I have been trying GABA+Glycine+melatonin , it seems to help but I can't say for sure longer term, and off an on I try l-theanine.

I also changed to taking most supplements like b-complex soon as I get up after a small snack. I was taking them mid-day.

Sleep quality has been a long term problem for me. I have considered getting ambien or some other sleep aid. I will keep quetiapine and trazodone in mind, but I don't want to take stronger meds for sleep if I can avoid it.

BTW, just because one is retired doesn't mean you don't value a good night's sleep.

CoQ10 can also make me wired, when I first started supplementing with it I had to start slow and let my body adjust to it. No I do not take slow-release melatonin, I buy the cheapest stuff I can find on Amazon and it works great.

I have found that if the RX drug your considering taking has a "Withdrawal Support Group", it's probably a good idea you find an alternative solution(-: Please don't make the same mistake I made with respect to trusting ones DR! More times then not DR's understand very little with respect to how these drugs actually work! Most DR's are merely an extension of the slick talking pharma rep who's only horse in the race is money!

I agree. Be super cautious with Quetiapine (Seroquel). It will create metabolic issues in the long run. It can be a miracle drug for people with bipolar (my son) but a very powerful drug (atypical antipsychotic). Trazodone did work well for me years ago for sleep and in my opinion has a much lower risk profile taken at low doses.

Playing around with "Dopamine", in the brain can have disastrous consequences! Dopamine in my humble opinion is the master "Feel Good Chemical", and without it one feels dead inside! I noticed not soon after I started taking this along with Klonopin I had a strong desire to consume "Opiates / Opioids".
